Readable Toolbar for Mac
Speak items under the mouse pointer
Readable for Windows includes a refined method to speak words or blocks of text that are underneath the mouse pointer. Mac also has a similar technique, and you can adjust the settings as below.
Turn on “speak item under pointer”. Then click the ℹ︎ symbol to show the range of adjustments available. When turned on, the Mac will speak any text underneath the mouse pointer using the selected voice.
You have the options to have the text under the pointer spoken “Always” or “Only when zoomed”. So this means that if you zoom into your display, the speaking function will activate automatically. Read more about how to Zoom into your display from the Apple Help Page
You can also set the level of detail spoken (called speech verbosity - High, Medium or Low), and also set how long to have your Mac wait before speaking.
