If you are speaking text with Readable, there are a number of ways to stop the speech. They are:

  • Press the Stop button on the Readable toolbar
  • Press down the Ctrl key on your keyboard
  • Left click your mouse (because Readable believes you want to move somewhere else on your PC or make an edit)

"Mouse Down Mutes Speech"

There is a setting to prevent the speech stopping when you left click your mouse. If you un-tick the "Mouse Down Mutes Speech" setting in the Speech Settings below, you will find that whilst Readable is speaking a longer text passage (e.g. a long web page) then you can use your mouse to move to a different app (side by side or on an extended monitor) to type some notes, review some e-mail or review other web feeds, or view accompany images etc. If you are on a single screen, we recommend changing your Underline Colour to be white/transparent.
