The following speech control methods attempt to ensure you can access any text content on your PC with your mouse and listen to that text be spoken with the chosen text to speech voice. 

• Select text with mouse cursor

• Click and Play method

• Point and Speak method (using Ctrl key and mouse)

• Select an area of the screen with the mouse cursor and use text extract

• Create an MP3 audio file from a document or selected text.

Readable Text to Speech voices

Different voices can be selected, as well as voice speed and volume in the Readable Settings. Readable integrates with a wide range of voices available installed on your PC. The voices you will see will depend on your Windows PC and also whether your version of Readable includes the premium Vocalizer voices pack for your country.

Readable V2 will often show the Microsoft Natural voices, but this will depend on the version of Microsoft Windows on the PC. These Microsoft voices are either installed by Readable, or available to downloaded directly from the Microsoft App Store or via Windows Settings. You can also download and install additional Microsoft Natural Voices for French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and German from the Readable Voice Downloads web page.

Microsoft Natural Online Voices (experimental)

From Sensory Readable Version 2, it is possible to connect to the Microsoft Natural online voices, which provide a wide range of languages and dialects. An internet connection is required to use these voices, and also an administrator permission is required on your PC to enable this connection. For Sensory Readable 2.5 onwards, administrator permission is not required. 

The secure network installer for Readable (.msi) from Readable V2.5 onwards does not have this online voice capability. Additional offline voices and languages should be installed if required. Contact us to obtain the secure edition if you have not received this as your download.

Readable Version 2.5 organises the hundreds of available voices by language in the Readable Voice settings tab. Click on the language to see the range of voices within the chosen language. 

The Natural Online voices require an internet connection to speak text. If there is no internet available, please choose an "offline voice" from the Readable Voice settings list.
